I started practising yoga in 2015 to keep my body flexible. During my travels in 2020/2021, I spent some time in lockdown in French Polynesia, where I attended yoga classes almost every day. That was when I discovered that yoga not only benefits my body, but also gives me inner strength, helps me slow down and brings me a sense of balance.

Back in Switzerland, I continued practising at home and attending classes. Over time, I felt an increasing desire to deepen my understanding of yoga and explore what lies beyond the physical asana practice. Even though I am not on the mat every day, I make time each day to pause, observe, reflect and breathe consciously.

Today, yoga means far more to me than movement. It is a way of living with greater awareness, connecting with myself and coming back to my centre – and, through that, meeting others with more mindfulness, openness and presence.

Do you have any tips for Yoga newbies?

Just start and stay curious. You do not need to practise on the mat every day, and you do not need to do anything perfectly. Give yourself time to discover what yoga means to you.

Perhaps it begins with movement and, over time, becomes something that also supports you in everyday life. Even one conscious breath, a moment of pausing, or simply noticing your body and your thoughts can be yoga.
