Agapi Kazamia

Yoga teacher

When I was younger, I played squash on the national team, training 20 hours a week and spending weekends competing at tournaments across Switzerland and Europe. At 21, I decided to quit — and suddenly felt a huge gap in my life, unsure how to fill all the free time I now had. On my sister’s suggestion, I gave yoga a try in 2012 — and I loved it so much that in 2017, I traveled to India to become a yoga teacher. I started teaching in 2018 and discovered during my training a deep interest in meditation, which later led me to pursue Yin Yoga training in 2020.

Today, as a mother of two, my yoga practice looks very different. It’s where I find calm, turn inward, and build greater mindfulness of the here and now. Through reflection, I sharpen my sensitivity and gain clarity about what really matters. This allows me to create new responses and build more positive habits — and it gives me a real sense of freedom.

What’s your advice for people new to yoga?

Try out different styles and teachers! I truly believe that once you find the right yoga path for you, it can enrich your life in so many beautiful ways.
